Course: Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brewed chamomile tea (cooled to room temperature)
  • 2 ½ tbsp unflavored gelatin (grass-fed if possible)
  • 1 tbsp honey (optional, for mild sweetness)
  • ½ cup unsweetened apple purée or pumpkin purée (optional)

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Kettle or pot (for brewing tea)
  • Silicone treat molds (paw or bone shapes)
  • Refrigerator

Method

  1. Brew and cool the chamomile tea — Steep two chamomile tea bags (or 1 tbsp dried chamomile flowers) in hot water for 5–7 minutes. Let cool until warm but not hot — around body temperature.
  2. Bloom the gelatin — Pour the cooled tea into a small saucepan. Sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top without stirring. Let sit for 2–3 minutes until it absorbs moisture and forms a soft, sponge-like texture.
  3. Dissolve the gelatin — Warm the saucepan gently over low heat, stirring until the gelatin is fully dissolved. Do not boil. Stir in the honey or purée, if using, until fully blended.
  4. Pour into molds — Carefully pour the warm mixture into silicone molds (or a shallow glass dish). Tap lightly to release air bubbles.
  5. Chill until firm — Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until fully set. Pop the gummies out and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Use only caffeine-free chamomile tea made from chamomile flowers alone avoid blends with green or black tea.
Don't boil the gelatin mixture this breaks down its ability to set properly.
Avoid instant tea mixes they often contain caffeine or artificial flavorings.
A little honey goes a long way dogs don't need added sugar, just a touch for taste.
Don't skip the full chilling time gummies need it to hold their shape.
Storage: refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 10 days, or freeze for up to 2 months. Thaw a few pieces in the fridge before serving.
Serving size: 1–2 small gummies per 20 lbs of body weight. Best used proactively (before bedtime, storms, grooming, or travel) rather than as an emergency fix.
Variations: try adding lavender buds for extra calm, mashed banana for sweetness, pumpkin purée for fiber, or a teaspoon of coconut oil for coat benefits.
Introduce any new ingredient slowly to make sure your dog tolerates it well.
