Course: Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, washed and hulled
  • ½ cup plain unsweetened yogurt (Greek or regular)
  • ¼ cup rolled oats
  • ½ ripe banana (optional, for added creaminess)
  • splash of water, as needed for blending
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Silicone molds or ice cube trays
  • Dog-friendly sticks or small chew sticks (optional)
  • Freezer

Method

  1. Blend everything together — Place the strawberries, yogurt, oats, and banana in a blender. Add a small splash of water to help with blending. Blend until smooth and creamy, like a thick smoothie. For chunkier treats, pulse a few times instead of blending fully.
  2. Pour into molds — Pour the mixture into silicone molds, ice cube trays, small paper cups, or spoon onto parchment paper. For a fun twist, insert a dog-friendly stick into the center of each mold before freezing.
  3. Freeze — Place molds in the freezer for at least 3–4 hours, or overnight, until completely solid. Once frozen, pop out and store in an airtight container or freezer bag.

Notes

Always use plain, unsweetened yogurt flavored or sweetened yogurts can contain xylitol, which is toxic to dogs.
If your dog is lactose-sensitive, swap in lactose-free yogurt or coconut yogurt for the same texture with gentler digestion.
Storage: keep frozen at all times stays fresh for up to 1 month in the freezer. Avoid refreezing once thawed, as texture and flavor will change.
Serving tip: 1–2 sticks as an occasional treat on warm days or after walks. Break into halves or quarters for smaller dogs. Can also be mixed into kibble for a cooling mealtime surprise.
Variations: swap strawberries for blueberries, raspberries, or apple slices (no seeds) avoid grapes, which are toxic to dogs. Use coconut yogurt or water for a dairy-free version.
Moderation matters 1–2 sticks per day is plenty, depending on your dog's size.
